Achievements:  In March of 2009, I was asked to adopt Grear.  I accepted and I could not have made a wiser decision.  Grear was a wonderful girl!   Grear came from the best of both worlds.  She had the excellent structure and sound movement from  her father’s line and she also has the strong field desire from her mother’s line. She was very birdy and biddable.  Grear earned her Working Certificate at The Penobscot Hunting and Retriever Club “Firecracker Classic” in 2008 and she earned her CCRCA Working Certificate in September of 2010. Grear proved to be a reliable upland retriever in the field as well.
Grear’s grandsire Frankie (CH Aberbran Bar Von Bern SH WC) was a top producer of many successful conformation champion and field titled curlies.  Grear’s granddam Jade (Chocca-Shaw’s Winter Wonder, MH, WCQ) was the first female curly to earn a Master Hunter title and she was also the first curly coated retriever to ever qualify to run the Master National Retriever Hunt test.
Grear’s sire Flash (AM & CAN CH Jangio’s Lightning Bug CD, RAE,CGC,ROM) was the #1 curly in all systems in 2007, and a multi group placer. Flash was awarded  Best of Breed at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club Show in 2007. After retiring from the show ring, Flash then went on to earn multiple obedience titles.
Grear earned her AKC championship in May of 2008, and in November of 2010 she became the first female curly coated retriever to earn an  AKC grand championship.  At the 2010 Westminster Kennel Club show, she was awarded the Best of Opposite Sex. At her first national specialty (2009 CCRCA  Nationals at Purina Farms in Grey Summit,MO), Grear earned an Award of Merit and was also awarded first place in the Brace Class with her half-sister Sal. See videos of Grear in the 2009 CCRCA Best of Breed  and Brace Class
In addition to earning her AKC championship, Grear earned her UKC and International championships with multiple group  wins and placements. Grear placed in the Top Ten UKC standings in 2009, 2010 and 2012. In 2010, she was awarded the only Judge’s Award of Merit in the breed at the UKC Top Ten Invitational.  She also placed in the top ten in the 2010 AKC Grand Champion Standings.
Grear was a conformation champion in Canada. She was the top female curly in breed points in Canada for 2012 and she placed in the UKC top ten for the breed for 2012.
Grear whelped a litter of 10  puppies in 2012 and a litter of 8 in 2013.  Grear left a legacy in the breed. She was my sweet sunshiney girl!
